Nowadays, the issue of coronaviruses has become a topic of concern. Coronaviruses belong to a large family of viruses causing illnesses ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). A study has found that different types of coronaviruses have originated from different types of animals. For example, SARS-CoV was transmitted from civet cats in 2002 and MER-CoV from dromedary camels in 2012. Recently, a new type of coronavirus has been invented in Wuhan, China named novel coronavirus. When someone is infected by this novel coronavirus, it is called coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID 19) though its earlier name was '2019' novel coronavirus' or '2019-n Cov.' 'CO' symbolizes corona, 'VI' symbolizes virus, and 'D' stands for disease. World Health Organization (WHO) considers this COVID-19 as a pandemic. Disease caused by coronavirus is an infectious one. COVID-19 can be spread in various ways, ranging from direct contact with respiratory droplets of an infected person to touching COVID-19 contaminated surfaces. They can only infect us if they can enter into our body; they can enter through our mouth, nose, or eyes. Debates are going on over the symptoms of the disease. Some common symptoms are sneeze, cough, fever, shortness of breath. As these symptoms are similar to common flu or cold, we are recommended to go for testing to confirm if there is COVID-19. As COVID-19 has no medicine so far, it is highly recommended to take preventive measures such as staying at home, washing hands frequently, wearing a mask while going outside, covering our sneeze or cough with a tissue or a flexed elbow, and throwing away the used tissue into a closed bin.
